Providing Free Income Tax Preparation
free income tax preparation
need your taxes prepared?
Desert Financial and Tax Services’ (DFATS) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site offers our community free income tax preparation of both your federal and state tax returns. Many of our winter visitors have come in to have their federal and out-of-state returns prepared. The VITA program has operated for over 50 years. We transmit the returns to both the federal and the state taxing authority completely free of charge.
Our volunteers provide service in either English or Spanish. Desert Financial and Tax Services has been providing this free tax service since 2018.
The free income tax preparation will commence on January 23, 2024. However, the IRS will not accept returns until January 29, 2024. Therefore, if you are expecting a refund, please be aware there will be a week delay.
We offer in-person and valet services. Come down to the Martin Luther King Jr. Center to get your taxes prepared free of charge.
If you want to prepare your own returns, we have a link to that free service as well. Please either scroll down or click on the button to access the link and obtain more information.
